Culinary and folklore tour of Krakow and Zakopane area

This tour is specially designed for all lovers of fresh local products, food markets, culinary experiences and folk handicrafts.  You will learn how to make our national dish "pierogi",  taste "kwasnica" sour soup and Highlander cheese "oscypek".

You will also have a chance to  learn traditional paintings from local artists in Zalipie village near Krakow.

Day 1. Krakow 

Arrival day. After check-in at your hotel meeting with our guide, Half-day walking tour of Old Town including Old Market Square, St. Mary’s Church and Wawel Hill with the Royal Castle and Cathedral.  Welcome traditional Polish dinner at Miod Malina Restaurant in Krakow

Day 2 Krakow – Kleparz Market – cooking class 

After breakfast  we drive to fresh food market called Stary Kleparz, a centuries-old Krakow's tradition. Locals and visitors shop in an unforgettable atmosphere for fresh, traditional Polish food products: breads, cheeses, meats, fruits and vegetables. Later enjoy the sights and shops of Krakow on your own. Krakow offers a good choice of art, crafts, and souvenirs. In the afternoon enjoy a private culinary workshop at Twój Kucharz / Your chef studio in Zablocie, where you will have to teach modern Polish cuisine.

Day 3 Krakow – Zalipie

We take you for a drive into the countryside approx. two hours from Krakow to village of Zalipie. Thisvillage is famous for their houses and church adorned with traditional floral paintings. The town has female folk artists who paint these lovely creations on houses, inside the local church, on decorative wooden items, on furniture and more.  You can meet with one of the local artists at the House of Artists, where they will teach you how paint floral patterns and how to make best pierogi dumplings...

Day 4 Krakow – Pieniny Mountains – Zakopane

In the morning we'll depart to Zakopane, fashionable resort in Tatra Mt, via beauiful Pieniny Mountains. The relaxing trip on wodden rafts through the breathtaking Dunajec River Gorge. The daily raft trips are guided by local Highlanders dresses in traditional costumes since early 19th c. After rafiting and lunch we’ll continue to Debno Podhalanskie village to visit a timber Gothic church places on UNESCO List of World Heritage sites. This afernoon enjoy a free time in Zakopane. It’s a good opportunity to shop local made handicrafts or stroll at main Krupowki Street. In the evening fesive Highlander food dinner at at local inn with folklore music and dancing.

Day 5 Zakopane – Podhale region 

Half-day guided tour of Zakopane, including funicular lift to the top of the Guba?ówka mountain, to admire the beautiful panorama of the alpine-like Tatra Mountains. Free time for shopping the Highlander souvenirs at the local market. Later private cooking lesson of Highlander cuisine and we’ll prepare Highlander sourkraft soup „kwasnica” and „moskole” – potates cakes with pork goulash and oscypek. On the way back to Zakopane stop in Chocholow village to visit  local wood carver and artist Jasiek Zieder at his art. studio. Dinner on your own.

Day 6 Zakopane - Krakow

Today we will travel back to Krakov via Podhale region to "Bacowka", when we see how oscypki are made.
